Peter May played for Surrey between 1950 and 1963, he also played 66 Test matches for England between 1951 and 1961 and was captain in 41 games.
May played when the fortunes of both club and country were high. Surrey won seven consecutive County Championships between 1951 and 1958, as well as an extremely strong England team which won consecutive home series against Australia, South Africa and the West Indies.
